Determined to ‘pick up’ where the band left off in March 2020, the Reading Spring Gardens Brass Band looks forward to competing at Wychavon Festival of Brass on Saturday 30th October 2021 under the baton of Matthew Ruel.
Matthew welcomed conductor Chris King (the highly successful musical director of the Friary Brass Band) to Christ Church Woodley on Thursday 7th October to work with him again and in the coming weeks to prepare the band for a return to the contest stage for the first time since 2019 following the height of the coronavirus crisis.
Matthew and the band look forward to benefiting from Chris’ wealth of experience and musical direction.
Unfortunately, in very recent weeks and days, a number of the band’s membership have been affected by this dreadful coronavirus disease. The band is very aware that it is not unique in this situation, and the band extends its very best wishes to all those who have likewise been affected.
As a band, Reading remains upbeat, and it is hoped that the music chosen for Wychavon Festival of Brass reflects this.
An upbeat music programme, but a challenge and test for all members of the band to enjoy nonetheless.
