Reading qualify for the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain

The band has booked its place in the national finals after a second-place finish at last weekend’s London & Southern Counties regional contest.

As the band celebrates its 125th anniversary year, it is proud to have qualified for the national finals for the first time in 65 years (!) under the baton of its conductor Matthew Ruel.

Bands placing in the top two or three from each region of the country are invited to compete at the national finals which will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse in September.

The band played number one in the fourth section contest in a field of 17 bands who all performed Alan Fernie’s ‘Music for Jock Tamson’.
