On Sunday the band competed at the Oxfordshire and District Brass Band Association (ODBBA) contest in the third section on the test piece for the forthcoming regional contest titled ‘Chorale and Toccata’ by Stephen Bulla.
The band gave a performance that it is very pleased with and which demonstrated the hard work and improvement in the standard of the band that it continues to enjoy.
The music has a nice flow and feel, it is very relaxed and comes across well… we get a few untidy moments, but [in the main it] has good drive and flow. The bigger dynamic is handled well, a slight edge to the sound, but its a good contrast.

Well done all!
On behalf of everyone in the band thank you to our audience, contest organisers and helpers, and of course our adjudicator Alan Duguid – your remarks are valued and appreciated.
The band will now continue its preparations on the test piece ‘Chorale and Toccata’ as it looks ahead to competing in the London and Southern Counties Regional Contest in the third section on Sunday 19th March in Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre.
