Historic occasion for Reading

Reading Band - Berkshire Proclamation

The Reading and Berkshire Proclamations for King Charles III took place this afternoon at 1pm and 2pm at Reading Town Hall and Reading Minster respectively.

The High Sheriff of Berkshire and the Mayor of Reading expressed the town’s sadness at the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and its gratitude for the lifetime of service given by the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning Monarch.

The ceremony also marked the formal Proclamation to the people of Berkshire and Reading of the beginning of the King’s reign.

As the town band of Reading we are very proud and privileged to have provided the musical backdrop for this historic occasion.
