The purpose of Reading Youth Band is to promote and support brass band music education and music making opportunities for young people aged 11 to 19 (and in full time education) in Reading, Berkshire and the surrounding area.
Membership is open to young brass and percussion players who have achieved, as a minimum standard, their Grade 5 brass / percussion music exam (ABRSM or Trinity).
Rehearsals will be held weekly on Sunday afternoon’s at 2.30pm to 4pm during the school term and will be led by Matthew Ruel and Rebecca Devaney.
Reading Youth Band will be a positive, safe space for young people to aspire to the highest standards of brass and percussion music making.
As such, all our tutors have DBS clearance and are provided with training on safeguarding and child protection issues.
A concert will be held at the end of each school term. This will provide an excellent opportunity for parents/carers to listen to their child’s musical progress and for our ensemble of young brass and percussion musicians to gain valuable performance experience within a positive and safe environment.
There is a membership fee of £50 per school term which is payable in advance.
If your child would like to join Reading Youth Band please register their interest at firstname.lastname@example.org
